Moto G (3rd gen) Android Marshmallow 6.0 update issues

As we know that Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update is released for Moto G 2nd gen, 3rd gen, Moto X and Moto E recently and as mentioned in the official site that the Marshmallow update will bring improvements in regard to the battery-smart features and new app permissions which actually includes some of the other important and interesting features like App Standby where the apps which are less used will be kept in reduced activity state which are also of user choice. With some of the other improvements Moto G 3, Moto G 2, Moto X and Moto E recently got Marshmallow update. With this on one side, Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update has brought so many issues which are actually so irritating for the users.

Moto G Marshmallow

I read from some of the forums that after the Marshmallow update users are facing some common issues as mentioned here. Some users are complained that after this Marshmallow update the Phone Slags, overheats and the apps are force closed and the battery life is poor. For some the mobile turns itself off every time after this Marshmallow update, some are not able to lock the phone and almost the home button and the multi window buttons are not working. After the Marshmallow update even some of the apps are misbehaving like the caller app and WhatsApp, no more incoming calls and no WhatsApp notifications. For some the camera is not working after the updating Moto G 3 to Marshmallow. Other than all these users are expressing their concerns about the App Notifications, Videos are not playing, even if they are but with no sound. So, Moto should have to release a bug fixer to fix all these issues with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update to fix all the update issues in Moto G 3, Moto G 2, Moto X Play and Moto E.

Moto started releasing Marshmallow updates for Moto X Play, Moto X Pure, Moto X Style, Moto G 3, Mot G 2, Moto X 2nd gen and here I am giving you fixes or solutions for some of the common update issues with Moto G 3, Moto G 2, Moto X Play after Android Marshmallow update. Just wait for the update from Moto to fixes all the other issues with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.

Camera Not Working after Marshmallow 6.0 update in Moto G 3/ Moto X Play

Many of the users, after updating their Moto G 3 to Marshmallow are informing that the camera is no more working in their smartphones and some are saying that the camera shutter sound control is missing. Ofcourse the camera app will work after rebooting the phone once the Marshmallow update is finished. The other one, Camera shutter sound control is missing is not actually a bug, because of the reason to avoid some legal troubles in the future, all the android phone manufacturers are removing this shutter sound control. Not only because of this but also because of some technical considerations while upgrading the camera app.

As a possible work around to this missing camera shutter sound control after Android Marshmallow upgrade, just decrease the ringer volume before launching camera app.

App Notifications not working after Marshmallow upgrade in Moto G 3

This is very usual after every upgrade that apps will misbehave because of the compatibility issues with the Android OS Version. This happened many times in the past say for example, after Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrade, WhatsApp was unable to sync contacts in Lenovo A6000. Just to make it work normal again, the solution was to clear the app data and app cache and reboot the Phone. Update the apps that are misbehaving to the latest versions and if possible back up all the data and go for factory reset the Phone. This will not erase Marshmallow on your Moto G/Moto X Play.

Home button and Multi Window buttons are not working

This is somewhat a peculiar behavior when compared to all the other issues. I am still searching for a better solution to fix this Home button and multi window not working issues. You may try to factory reset the Phone after backing up all the data. This can actually resolve the issue or if you have a solution to this issue, you can just post in the comments below to help others to resolve this issue.

It runs smoothly Marshmallow 6.0 on a Moto G 3gen 2GB/16GB… Any of these problems present on my unit.
Only overheating once connect the device in a first time (with Lollipop), after upgrade… no more overheating.
